Rotational molding, roto mold for rotational molded cases, 11 years in roto molding & tooling.
♣ The picture is quoted to indicate some basic problems in roto tooling and rotational molding.Though it is not rotomolded by us, at the very beginning of our rotomolding history, we experienced the smimilar. ♣
Trouble shooting on an improperly roto molded protection case.
The rotomolded part, shown in the picture, is of square in shape, which unfortunately is apt causing molding problems to new rotational molders. As we can see from the picture of the rotomolded protection case, it has a few problems including,
1st, too much molding flashes;
2nd, apparent distortion and warp on surfaces supposed to be flat,
3rd, mis-match between top and bottom mouldings,
4th, unfitness between lid and base,
5th, defective molding in engraved characters or LOGO.
Upon our experience in tooling and OEM molding for rotational molding projects, the problems mentioned above are, in a high possibility, related to both tooling and molding, including, uneven wall thickness of tools, in-adequate flatness in flanges, in-sufficient fixtures in milling and benchwork, improper heat distribution in molding, and lack of cooling jigs, and etc...
